Large Companies: Generally, large companies take all the gigs they can possible book. They turn nobody away with the intent that they can always "find" somebody to take the gig. Equipment is often bare minimal in an effort to be as efficient as possible. These companies often have a very good pitch person to sell the services, and then put you in touch with their DJ no more then two weeks before your gig. TWO WEEKS! How would you like to have somebody sell you something only to realize that they would be nowhere around for your event? These companies have so many events, that they can not, and a lot of the times, do not care about the result. It's the old adage: "quality, not quantity"
Independent DJ's: With today's technology, a lot of "DJ's" are cropping up. They figure anybody can buy speakers and cd players and simply download and play music. Not only is this wrong, it is illegal and unethical. BUT, assuming you are entertaining a run of the mill independent DJ, I will continue with some possibilities. These DJ's often use substandard equipment. Not only is quality often compromised, but coverage ability as well. Watch out for the DJ who insists all he needs are two speakers to fill a wedding hall or other large space. NOT TRUE. Also, many lack a back up system. Many "DJ's" claim they have it, but is it on site? Is it a full system or just speakers? (Amplifiers can blow too!) And finally, are they pleasing to interact with. Do they speak over the phone and in person in an engaging way? Do they sound intelligent, confident, and competent? Remember, this person will be making announcements and a lot of the times dictating the flow of the event. Be sure to make the right choice!

I feel that business should never feel like business. You are not just another customer to me. You are, in fact, my livelihood. My success both immediately and in the future depend on your event! Most of my business is from word of mouth and I feel this is the greatest compliment I could ever get. I treat each customer with warmth, personality, and simply put, like one of my own family members. From start to finish, you will talk to me only. No talk show host pitch person, no uneducated kid who can't answer your questions. I will describe to you in detail every step of the process. I will be available at anytime via telephone. (I'll make myself available in person if close enough!) Basically put, whatever it takes, I will do it to satisfy you.
On a less personal, more technical aspect of business is my equipment. I use state of the art, top of the line equipment. I have back up components (of every piece, not just "extra speakers") available ON SITE. I meticulously maintain my equipment to assure flawless performance.
The day of the event: I arrive to the event a minimal of one hour before the event starts. My goal is to be set up, tidy up, and presentable before the very first guest gets there. I will be dressed appropriately (from tuxedo to jeans, your call!) and ready to go. Cords are hidden, and my presentation is very pleasing. No wires hanging everywhere!
In conclusion
If you've hung in there this far, I can assume you're interested in services. Let me say thank you for your time. I feel that the way you (I) treat people is the key to success. From the first phone call or email to the week after your event (I have been known to follow up, just to be sure) I am at your every beck and call. Thank you for providing the DJ entertainment for the holiday party on December 12th. Your soft music and Christmas selections during the reception and dinner were perfect. But more importantly, the atmosphere you created after dinner was a key factor in making the event a huge success. You were able to get the dancing started quickly and keep it going all night.
